Clwyd South Candidate Bruce Roberts

Local accountant Bruce Roberts has been chosen by the Lib Dems to fight the Clwyd South seat in the forthcoming General Election.

Bruce was born in Wrexham and educated at St David's School and Yale College. He studied Physics at Durham University and Philosophy at Lancaster University before training as a Chartered Accountant. In 1997 he established a successful accountancy practice which continues to serve a variety of, mainly small, local businesses. His work brings him into daily contact with local businesses and as such he has a particular interest in the economy and taxation and other small business issues.

He has served as a school governor in two local schools, chairing one for many years. He is also a long standing community councillor and a member of the Board of Governors at Glyndwr University. Education is an area in which Mr Roberts has a very strong interest.

Bruce and his wife Anna, a primary school teacher, live in Johnstown. They have three children who attend local schools.

Bruce stood in Wrexham for the Liberal Democrats in the 2007 Welsh Assembly elections. His other political interests include the environment and civil liberties.

Outside politics Bruce enjoys spending time with his family, watching Wrexham FC and is a keen hill walker. He also enjoys long distance swimming and swam the length of Llyn Tegid last summer.
