They still keep appearing on our roads. Your help in ringing 01978 298989 to report them is much appreciated. We are told that Chester Road near the Red Lion can be repaired. School Hill in Gresford has finally been tidied up with the footpath widened and a new waste bin.

I am working with partners to have signs erected to stop Heavy Goods Vehicles coming off Gresford roundabout and coming into our area where the roads are just not suitable for such large vehicles.

There have been complaints again about speeding, on Marford Hill, at the junctions with Village Walks and Sunnyridge Avenue, and also on Chester Road.

Another decision made, which I have been involved in since November 2006, is a Council agreement with local Trade Unions. The Council confirmed an agreement which the unions accepted after a ballot. The resulting pay and allowance structure will finally throw out inequalities between staff -particularly between men and women. This agreement is vital, there are difficult decisions to be made in the coming years and the co-operation of all staff will be needed.

The Local Development Plan, which sets out proposals for the development and use of land in the borough up until 2021 is now available for public consultation. It will guide development for housing, employment retail and other uses. The closing date for the consultation is July 16th 2010.

Anti social behaviour has returned to the Sunken Gardens [also known as the White Square] - the park on Park Avenue, and the corners of Aston Grove and Plas Gwyn. Although cutting back the laurel bushes has deterred drug use and other anti-social behaviour it has not stopped it.

Residents' and Tenants' Associations are set up to bring people together to work for the benefit of their local community. Some of the topics discussed concern the environment, anti social behaviour and housing issues. Training is available to help set up an association. I have spoken to several ward members who feel Maesydre needs an association to represent the community and have arranged for an initial meeting to form an Association to be held on TUESDAY 17th August, 2010 at THE QUAKER MEETING HOUSE HOLT RD. at 7.00 p.m. [If you are holiday on that date but interested in getting involved, let Carole O'Toole know and she will keep you informed.]

Last night was the final of the three televised Leaders' debates. Leader of the Liberal Democrats, Nick Clegg, debated with Gordon Brown and David Cameron about the economy. Subjects discussed included breaking up the banks, creating more jobs and reinvigorating the British economy.

On Thursday 29th April from 8.30pm, BBC One will host the final live Prime Ministerial Debate of the General Election from the Midlands. Nick Clegg, Gordon Brown and David Cameron will again be going head to head in the run up to the General Election next Thursday.

An average of five polls conducted immediately after the Sky TV Leaders Election debate on Thursday night put Nick Clegg as the winner, with all instant polls showing him ahead of Gordon Brown. After the Foreign Affairs-led debate from Bristol dominated by issues like Iraq, immigration and climate change, Nick Clegg won 3 of the 5 polls on the night, building on his position after the first debate.

The polls following the first ever Party Leaders General Election debate on ITV are showing that Nick Clegg has won a convincing victory over David Cameron and Gordon Brown. The debate was the first ever Leaders debate during a UK General Election campaign, and the pollsters are giving it as a big victory for Nick Clegg and the Liberal Democrats.
