Eleanor Burnham welcomes cross support for a referendum in Wales

5.05.00pm GMT Tue 9th Feb 2010

Eleanor Burnham, Welsh Liberal Democrat Assembly Member for Wales has welcomed the recent cross support for a referendum in Wales.

Eleanor said " I was delighted with the over whelming cross-party support for a vote in favour of a referendum to ask people living in Wales if the Assembly should have the freedom to make laws in devolved areas of responsibility.

" We are now one step closer to a referendum and I hope that the Secretary of State for Wales, Peter Hain will move quickly to ensure people have the opportunity to vote for improved democracy in Wales".
