Burnham calls for better deal for tourism in North Wales

9.08.00am GMT Thu 11th Feb 2010

"The Vale of Clwyd's regeneration is long overdue, not only in Rhyl but in Prestatyn and other coastal towns in North Wales. Improvements have been promised, but the recession has hit the construction industry hard and there have been major setbacks to some projects.

"Our coastal towns and resorts deserve to be restored to their former splendour and to have the proper investment to do so. Not only will the residents appreciate the regeneration but visitors will be attracted to the area as well.

"Tourism is vital to the area's economic development and survival so it is imperative that the monies being made available for regeneration over the next few years are sufficient to accomplish the huge task of reinvigorating our beautiful seasides.

"I have pressed the First Minister on the subject this week and will continue to lobby hard for a better deal for tourism in North Wales.
